A Meaningful Lesson From Paper 1

My Paper 1 had a very rough beginning. I didn’t even know what the MLA format was, and I made a lot of mistakes in my first draft. Ms. Lee gave me very detailed feedback, which helped me understand much more clearly what I needed to correct.

this is my firs draft of paper 1:

Hope and Reality- American Dream in my heart

Opportunity and Success wealth and freedom

Challenges, Sacrifices, and Hardships

Striving for a Better Future

The American Dream for different people has different definitions. To me it is a new beginning

and makes my life richer and has a lot of different experiences. but in the distance between us ,

Mami said: "In the United States, we will have everything we ever dreamed of," "We won’t be

poor anymore.",American dreams mean opportunity and wealth, and a place without poverty

and hardship. To someone it is freedom and can be themselves. So many different definitions

about American dreams ,any way, American dream is a kind of good wish for a better life.

Different factors influence the decision to immigrate. From an immigrant’s perspective, the

American Dream can mean different things. For Satoshi Nakajima, an architect, what attracted

him most to the United States was that it is the best place to pursue his passions. Some factors

force people to leave their hometowns, such as economic hardship, lack of jobs, low wages,

poverty, war, corrupt governments, and natural disasters. On the other hand, some factors

attract people to a new country, including better job opportunities, political freedom, democracy,

human rights, legal protection, and an improved quality of life—such as access to healthcare,

education, and social services. Many immigrants experience a mix of these factors in their

decision to move, hoping for a better future.

For me, the most important reason for immigrating to the U.S. is to provide a better education

for my daughter. In China, there is immense pressure on students, so I decided to move to the

U.S. to give her a less stressful and more well-rounded educational environment.

According the feedback form Ms.Lee, I correct the paper 1, this is the final traft, it is still not very perfict ,but to me it is a great improvment.

The one who has The American Dream may usually keep a growth mindset .They want to

challenge and explore more opportunities in their life. The USA is full of opportunities and great

space to grow for us. They want to keep a Zero attitude to everything ,and put great effort and

energy into all the new fields of career and adjust to the new environment as fast as possible.

undoubtedly they will meet a lot of difficulties and frustration, but they always keep an optimistic

attitude and overcome all the obstacles they meet .Finally they will get the goal they want to

achieve.

The American Dream attracts many many people with similar personalities and keeps them

together to build a great country .They are contributing in the different fields of the US by

working hard, delivering some resources and technology from their home country. “more and

more rich people want to seek a safe and stable government and politics to keep their wealth

safe, another key reason for the education of their kids, it is much easier to get top universities

in the US than in their home country “.(“Push and Pull Factors of Migration“) Therefore, many

new immigrants create more and more job opportunities and make purchases. All these factors
