Myths And Facts About Job Competition About Immigrants

In California, more than half of all farmworkers are immigrants, according to the American

Farm Bureau. Immigrants play an essential role in supporting the farm industries. Without these

immigrant workers, millions of dollars’ worth of crops would spoil in the fields due to labor

shortages.

According to the American Immigration Council, a nonpartisan group, research indicates there

is little connection between immigrant labor and unemployment rates of native-born

workers.(Ten Myths About Immigration)so immigrants are not taking jobs from native -born

workers, but filling gaps that they would not like to do .Distinguishing myths and facts about job

competition between native-born citizens and immigrants is key to creating fair policies that

benefit both groups.

First, A lot of immigrants contribute to the economy of the US. And they create many job

opportunities for native-born citizens. They create more jobs than they destroy. Half of all the

very successful Silicon Valley startups were founded by immigrants. Many of us benefit

enormously from our interaction with immigrants.

even the illegal immigrant is the net gain for the country, they are not just because the harvest

lots of our food, and do lots of construction, but they don’t collect social security and welfare and

they are taxpayers and consumers, they contribute to the economy by purchasing goods and

services, helping make the economy stronger and more dynamic.

In one word, Immigrants are good for keeping the economy alive and creating more job

opportunities for native-born citizens.

Second, Immigrants often fill critical gaps in the labor market that native-born workers cannot

meet.

immigrants play a vital role across many sectors in the U.S. Here are examples of industries or

professions where immigrants are particularly valued for their specialized skills or willingness to

work in demanding conditions. Healthcare & Medical Professions, Many U.S. hospitals and

clinics rely on internationally trained physicians and nurses, especially in underserved rural

areas or urban centers. Software engineers, IT professionals, data scientists, Immigrants often

hold advanced degrees in STEM and contribute significantly to innovation. Many workers on H-

Why can't native-born workers meet the demands of the labor market?

Additionally, better education and an aging population—have resulted in a decrease in the

number of workers born in the United States who are willing or available to take low-paying jobs.

"Most of the East African immigrants here are working in jobs that are difficult to fill—like

overnight shifts at meatpacking plants or janitorial work." (How a Somali Refugee is Creating

Community in Minnesota)

It shows that immigrants are often doing hard, undesirable jobs that many native-born citizens

don’t want to do. immigrants make great contributions to help economic stability and offer a

different workforce.

Third, Immigrants have enriched American culture and helped amplify its global influence.

Immigrants bring valuable things ,like their languages, traditions, cuisines, music, and values,

making the culture more dynamic and diverse. For example, the popularity of international

cuisines like Mexican tacos, Chinese dumplings, and Mediterranean ,immigrant cultures have

shaped everyday American life.

Many immigrant communities actively promote American values such as freedom,

entrepreneurship, and innovation, showing to the world that American culture is not static but

inclusive and ever-evolving. A lot of immigrants assimilate quite well to the US. In doing so,

immigrants not only strengthen the culture of the U.S., but also help project a more relatable,

inspiring, and diverse image of America to the world.

Do you still think there is cruel job competition between the immigrants and native-born

citizens? undoubtedly, if you consider the economy, the job gap, the culture and global

influence, you will deeply understand the answer is no. That’s why we need to stop believing

false myths and look at immigration in the right way. When we understand the truth, we can

speak up and support better immigration policies. This will help the government make smart

decisions that make America stronger and drive America’s economic success in the years to

come.

between native-born citizens and immigrants, how do we distinguish it

and support government creating fair policies?

First, immigrants are not grabbing jobs from native -born workers, but filling

gaps they would not like to do. According to the American Immigration Council, the

research indicates that unemployment rates of native-born workers is not due to the

immigrant labor. They are totally different groups and focus on different labor

markets. It shows that immigrants are often doing hard, undesirable jobs and low-

salary job that many native-born citizens don’t want to do. Immigrants make great

contributions to help economic stability and offer a different workforce. "Most of

the East African immigrants here are working in jobs that are difficult to fill—

like overnight shifts at meatpacking plants or janitorial work." (How a Somali

Refugee is Creating Community in Minnesota 1:16) So when we learn more we will find

immigrants are complement but not competition of our workforce.

Secondly, immigrants create more jobs than they “grab”.in "the Ten Myths About

Immigration " , the author insisted that an abundance of immigrant come to the US.

They bring money ,skill and useful experience here. They are taxpayers and

consumers ,they contribute to the economy by purchasing goods and service ,helping

make the economy strong and more dynamic. What's more, many technology companies in

Silicon Valley were founded by immigrants, and they create tons of jobs for native-

born citizens. For example ,Google company is founded by a Russia immigrant, SpaceX

is build by Elon Must comes from South Africa. These great companies are offering a

lot of good job opportunity for people .so we can confirm that immigrants create

more job and contribute a lot to our economic and job opportunities.

Thirdly, immigrants often fill critical gaps in the labor market that native-

born workers can't. As a superpower ,American is very a vast country ,the

technology and science is very advanced. there for, creating a talent gap in many

high-tech industries and some special industries. only native-born citizens can't

meet the requirement .what's more ,because of the more and more serious aging

population ,and less and less native-born students willing to study STEM

subjects.so plenty of students from India or China are capable of these jobs and

fill the talent gap.

Do you still think there is cruel job competition between the immigrants and

native-born citizens? undoubtedly, if you consider the economy, the job gap, the

talent gap, you will deeply understand the answer is no. That’s why we need to stop

believing false myths and look at immigration in the right way. we can

speak up and support better immigration policies. This will help the government

make smart

decisions that make America stronger and drive America’s economic successful.
